Costa Rica- March 2012
Saturday, March 17th, 2012 – Saturday, March 24th, 2012 · 12:00am (add to calendar)
Dates: March 17-24, 2012
Leader: Amy Bates
Location: Limon, Costa Rica
Cost: Estimated at $2300 - $2600 (varies depending on flight costs at the time of booking)
Details: This trip takes place in Limon, the main port town on the Caribbean coast. We will stay in a neat little coastal town by the name of Puerto Viejo that is about 45 min away from 2 government run orphanages that we will work with in Limon. The ages of the children range from infants to 16 years of age. Each orphanage has around 14 kids. Our team size for these trips is 12 people maximum.
Most of our time will be spent in the port city of Limon where we will participate in activities with the local Orphanages. There are two Orphanages in Limon where we work directly with the Director and youth. This is a time to put the love of Christ into action by ministering to orphans. We will be doing all kinds of projects that may include anything from painting murals to fixing playground equipment to playing sports with the kids, arts & crafts, holding them, playing games, teaching them about Jesus, and music. When a service project is involved, team members will be encouraged to raise additional money to help the orphanage by funding the service project specific to each team. (Not every team will have a service project.)
There will also be opportunity for some sightseeing activities as well - for an additional cost, teams will be able to choose between zip-lining or a scenic aerial tram ride through the rainforest.
