Uganda (60 Feet)- March 2012

Dates: March 10-18, 2012*
Location: Uganda
Leader: Garry Hill, Sixty Feet Board Member
Cost: $3000 - $3250 (cost is dependent on airfare and departure airport)
Details: This trip will partner with Sixty Feet. We prefer applicants for this trip be experienced mission trip members as this trip will be more difficult emotionally and spiritually than other trips.
Government facilities called “remand centers” exist throughout the continent of Africa. These facilities were created for children who have committed a crime. The homes are overcrowded and horribly underfunded. The living conditions are shocking. The worst part is this – the vast majority of the children in these facilities have not committed any crime. Mostly, they are children who are simply unwanted. Sixty Feet was created to bring hope and healing to these children through the love of Jesus Christ.
Traveling to Uganda with Sixty Feet is not your average short term missions experience. Our mission trips are not project oriented but people oriented. We seek to provide our teams with opportunities to learn about and experience the culture and the mission field in which we serve. We desire for our trips to be relational in nature and consistent with the long term mission work of Sixty Feet.
While in Uganda, the team will visit four of the remand centers that Sixty Feet serves. You will spend one or two days at each of the three facilities in Kampala, including a prison for small abandoned or orphaned children. The team will also travel to Mbale to serve the remand center there.

*Please note: most team members will need to fly to Washington, DC the day before the date listed above as the trip start date. This is in order to connect for the International flight in time as most flights leave in the morning or early afternoon and most connecting flights don’t make it in time. We will book all connections for you and if an overnight in DC is needed, we will make arrangements for the team for lodging. Thank you!
